Sixth Annual World Tapping Summit Starting Feb 24 2014
It is that time of year again to mark your calendars for the free marathon of tapping opportunities. For those who are new to this event, once you put in your e-mail on the appropriate site you will have access to 10 days, 2 presenters daily, of EFT information and experience with using EFT tapping. You only have 24 hours to listen in to the replays for free. To make the most of this opportunity I have found it best to prepare by reviewing your schedule and trying to set aside a time each day that you can commit to listening in. You will be sent the link through your e-mail and you might choose to only watch few here and there when you have time. This event is an awesome way for those new to EFT to see all the interesting ways in which EFT is used to collapse distressing feelings and somatic complaints arising from the body and to develop a skill that enables you to reduce your stress response and move gently into a relaxation response. The following video with Lissa Rankin talking with Nick Ortner is the second pre launch video that explores further how the body can heal itself when in a relaxed state of being. The latest research demonstrating how our stress hormone of cortisol reduces significantly after tapping and of course consistent reports from clients can attest to the power of EFT tapping to initiate the relaxation response which allows the body to begin to heal itself.
The video is another pre-event video for the upcoming 6th Annual Tapping World Summit. In the interview Dr. Lissa Rankin, a traditionally trained medical doctor who specializes in understanding the mind-body connection, sits down with Nick Ortner, the producer of the event.
Watch this video! I know you’ll love it. :)

Important dates to remember: The 10-day Summit starts on February 24th, 2014 –
February 3rd, 2014 – Pre-launch video with Wayne Dyer
February 6th, 2014 – Pre-launch video with Dr. Lissa Rankin

If You ask any woman on the street how she
feels about her weight you’re likely
to get some scowling looks…

Both for how she feels about her weight and
for asking the question and bringing up the
topic in the first place. :)

For most women, thinking about their weight
and how they feel about their body is a
very emotional issue.

Society puts a great deal of pressure on
women to look good and be in shape.

And unfortunately 2/3 of women in the United
States alone are overweight, with 1/2 of
them being obese.

That leads to a lot of frustrated women who
are constantly going on a roller coaster
ride of going from one diet to another,
trying to find the magical solution.

But if weight loss is such an emotional
issue for women, why is the solution always
to look at diet and exercise, and not to
address the emotions?

Jessica Ortner, an EFT Tapping expert, has
been taking a much different approach towards
helping women and she’s been getting some
startlingly good results.

As Jessica says “Focusing on diet and exercise
FIRST when trying to release weight is the
wrong approach. You need to first focus on
what’s going on inside you, in your unconscious
brain, that is holding you back.”

Jessica is running several free webinars
this week that you can attend called “The
Biological Weight Loss Trap,” that go into
detail on the major role that our underlying
emotions, beliefs and traumas play with our
weight as well as our confidence in how we
feel about our bodies.

She shares some pretty shocking science and
research that prove exactly why ignoring
your emotions and only focusing on diet and
exercise doesn’t work.

This is a CONTENT PACKED webinar presentation
that will show you how to figure out what
is going on in YOU that is preventing you
from releasing weight, and just as importantly,
what is holding you back from feeling
comfortable and confident in your body…

I think this webinar is a must watch for any
woman, as it will give you a much deeper
understanding and more importantly, level of
control, over the unconscious things that
make it challenging to release weight.

There are a number of times available to
attend the webinar. I highly recommend
making some time to watch it.

Many EFT practitioners will notice when certain clients come to a new session or another session when something “awful” has happened, they begin to “rant” or ramble about all the things that are on their minds or how they are feeling….”I hate myself, no one cares about me, I’m so stupid, I can’t do anything right, so and so did, said…how could they do that to me …life is not fair…God does not love me…and so on. In traditional EFT we might be madly writing down these statements as possible tapping phrases, aspects to do with the client.
Silvia Hartman in her version of EFT which she calls “ENERGY EFT” (which by the way has a few modifications of the classic tapping sequencing) says that this kind of presentation by the client is “stress talk” and rather than trying to address each one of those statements, you first begin by tapping simply on stress, using the word “stress” because that is really what is happening to the client. Their energy system is in a chaotic state and as a practitioner you will notice the difficulty the client has in being able to lock in to what is really bothering them or identify the real issue…” my wife told me yesterday morning she is thinking about leaving me”.In other words as a practitioner you can get lost and distracted in a wild goose chase on each one of their thoughts and feelings, taking up valuable time and instead first do a round on ” all this stress”. The client will begin to calm and settle, blood will return to the frontal cortex and the most important aspect will be shared. Experienced practitioners will recognize this state immediately and have their own techniques and process to stabilize but simply tapping on “stress” right from the get go will be most beneficial. I have used this with clients using the heart and soul of “Energy EFT” protocol and not classic EFT set up and statements. Energy EFT begins with the hands on the heart, moves slower with more intentional breathing.I’m sure that classic EFT will have the same effect and I would advise moving more slowly, tapping very gently and taking some nice deep breaths between the points as in TAB (touch and breathe). You can easily do this yourself if you find yourself in a state of overwhelm and feel confused as to where to begin your tapping, what to focus on or what words to use. Good luck and let me know how this works for you, Warmly jody

Blog post by Nick Ortner of the Tapping Solution, describing the ways EFT affects body chemicals backed by the research of Dawson Church PhD.( Posted March 17th, 2012

Yoga, meditation, massage, acupuncture, and herbal remedies; these are just some of Eastern medicine’s contributions to our decades-long search for ways to live well with fewer pills and less-invasive health care. Toward that end, I’m excited to report that there are promising new findings in the field of energy psychology, specifically about a practice called Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), or tapping, that is taking our search for holistic solutions to an exciting new level.

What’s unique about EFT is how it combines Eastern wisdom about acupressure, or “meridian points,” in our bodies, with traditional Western psychotherapy. The practice consists of tapping with your fingertips on specific meridian points while talking through traumatic memories and a wide range of emotions. “Acupoint tapping sends signals directly to the stress centers of the mid-brain, not mediated by the frontal lobes (the thinking part, active in talk therapy),” explains Dr. Church, Ph.D., who has been researching and using EFT since 2002. Because EFT simultaneously accesses stress on physical and emotional levels, he adds, “EFT gives you the best of both worlds, body and mind, like getting a massage during a psychotherapy session.”

In fact, it’s EFT’s ability to access the amygdala, an almond-shaped part of your brain that initiates your body’s negative reaction to fear, a process we often refer to as the “fight or flight” response, that makes it so powerful. “By reducing stress,” adds Church, “EFT helps with many problems. There’s a stress component to sports performance, business and financial pressure, and most disease. When you reduce stress in one area of your life, there’s often a beneficial effect in other areas.”

Church estimates that 10 million people worldwide have used tapping, and what’s so exciting is how incredibly quickly it’s alleviating issues like depression, anxiety and insomnia, as well severe PTSD, physical pain, even illness.

At this point you’re probably thinking what most intelligent and sane people are — how is that possible? How can tapping on “meridian points” resolve serious health issues? As an EFT practitioner and the producer of the movie The Tapping Solution, it’s a question I’ve been asked repeatedly over many years. In fact, you’ll often hear me refer to EFT as “this strange tapping thing.” Fortunately, there’s very real science (and results!) behind it.

In partnership with Dr. David Feinstein, Dr. Church has been able to confirm that tapping on specific meridian points has a positive effect on cortisol levels. Cortisol, known as the “stress hormone,” is integral to our body’s “fight or flight” response. Originally designed to help us survive life in the wild, the “fight or flight” response was essential when our ancient ancestors were faced with sudden, brief danger like, let’s say, a tiger. However useful in short bursts, releasing cortisol too frequently, as we seem to be doing in response to the ongoing or “chronic” stress of modern life, may have serious, even scary, impacts on our physical, mental and emotional health. In fact, living in this kind of biological “survival mode” may be making us more vulnerable to everything from cancer to heart disease, and more.

In Dr. Church’s study, 83 participants were separated into three groups. One group was guided through an hour-long EFT session, the second group received an hour of talk therapy, while the third, the control group, received no treatment. The group that did an hour of EFT demonstrated a 24 percent decrease in cortisol levels, while the other two groups showed no real change. The EFT group also exhibited lower levels of psychological symptoms, including anxiety, depression, and others, as measured by the Symptom Assessment-45 (SA-45), a standard psychological assessment tool.

Research suggests that EFT may be so effective because of its perceived ability to balance out the nervous system, leveling off the activity of the parasympathetic and sympathetic regions. Responsible for promoting cell regeneration and relaxation, the parasympathetic region helps to slow your heartbeat, support digestion, and more. The sympathetic system, on the other hand, prepares you for vigorous physical activity by speeding up your heart, constricting your pupils, and so on. As noted in Church’s study, imbalance between these two regions is associated with a long list of health issues, from high blood pressure and heart problems (most often seen in those with an overactive sympathetic region), to depression, fatigue, and weakened immune response (in those with excessive parasympathetic activity).

In his study findings, Church asserts that EFT, which he refers to as “acupoint treatments” produces “a neutral emotional state,” which, biologically speaking, is the gold standard of health and wellness. It’s also the state of well-being people have sought to achieve for millennia through meditation, prayer, yoga, and other mindfulness practices.

Dr. Feinstein, a clinical psychologist who uses EFT in his own practice, adds that EFT is an “unusually precise, rapid, and direct for shifting the neurological underpinnings of a range of psychological problems.” In fact, he adds, “the number of therapists using EFT has been rapidly increasing over the past decade, and now peer-reviewed research is showing that their instincts have been right. Surprisingly rapid outcomes with a variety of disorders are being documented.”

The results of that documentation can (and will!) impact millions of lives in incredibly powerful ways, which is why I’m excited to share a host of new studies with you here, in future posts. In the meantime, I look forward to hearing your feedback. Are you familiar with tapping? Do you use it yourself, or know others who do? Are there specific topics you’d like me to focus on in future posts?

TAP TO COPE, Japan 2011

Listening to the news and seeing the inconceivable realities going on in Japan is a daily experience for many of us right now.

I believe they are holding the container for all of us. They are heroes, teaching us and preparing us for our possible, potential and alarmingly probable future. They are the soul co-creators of our great mother earth trying to release the tensions in her body created by us ALL. Our global involvements, technologically and through greedy consumerism have created this condition. We are one world, one people and we all have a responsibility in taking some action for the healing of our planet and in supporting Japan and her people for fighting the fight for us.

Nuclear power is in every country and state in North America. Given the energy and force of nature, natural /techno tragedy is anyone’s game. We can deny and pretend that the safeguards the government and news profess for our safety and protection are the truth but really, give your head a shake. Most intelligent people, people with common sense know ….chemicals, carcinogens, and poisons in the air, whatever you want to label this as, are killing us and will continue to impact our health and the planet.

So here we are, talking about all the supplements needed to protect someone from any trace of nuclear radiation. See David Wolf’s video. I feel this tragic situation awakens one of humanities greatest environmental fear and anxiety. When we allow ourselves to tune in and empathize with the Japanese people and imagine what this experience must be like for them, for the children, for relatives and loved ones that cannot find their families, we can begin to understand the magnitude of this distress. The trauma emotionally is immense and if that doesn’t destroy a life, the body might have to fight for its very existence. There is no escape.  There is only the survival of coping. The Japanese people are demonstrating this survival of coping with patience and respect for one another as they wait hours on end for meagre supplies. We have much to learn from them.

We, who seem far away from the “danger”, can distract ourselves with day to day routine life activities and when we stop for a moment and hear the updates we can become stunned by the implications of this massive earth shift. The world did indeed shift with this quake and we are all being affected whether you are conscious or not of this fact.

You may become aware of distress and added tension in your body not recognizing that perhaps your emotions are engaged in this event more than you might suspect. You might find yourself reacting more suddenly with agitation, frustration or anger towards others or yourself. You may feel more anxious and preoccupied with body discomfort. You might sleep more or be wakeful when you want to sleep. You might feel ungrounded (because the earth is shaking under your feet). Sensitive individuals will feel these subtle shifts. The point is, to be aware that changes might come to the forefront of your life and it might not be your child or husband or boss that is to blame. It just might mean you are opening your heart to the vibration and palpable pain in the world at this time and it doesn’t feel very good.

So let’s tap

Each line represents a point on the short EFT sequence.

Even though “IT’S  PRETTY  HEAVY,  WHAT’S  HAPPENING, WHAT’S  SHAPING, WHAT’S  SHIFTING  OUR WORLD” in Japan and I choose to stay calm and relaxed and send healing light to the people of Japan now and accept myself and my part( intentionally or unintentionally) in the creation of this tragedy.  3x

This is really heavy and inconceivable.

I cannot even believe the pictures I am seeing or imagine what it must be like to be in the throes of this nightmare.

The outcome of this for years to come for our world and for the people of Japan is big!

What if this could happen to me, my loved ones and my family?

This is scary and heartbreaking all at the same time.

The people of Japan are brave and courageous.

They are demonstrating patience and respect.

They are our teachers and I too can bring these qualities into my life.

This event awakens my own mind to my own mortality and that sometimes scares me.

I feel uncertain about my future and the future of my children.

Our world is changing. I’m worried tragedy can strike at any time.

It’s pretty heavy, what’s happening, what’s shaping, what’s shifting.

Sometimes I don’t feel safe.

Sometimes I don’t trust the reassurances given by my government.

The news reports are disturbing for me to watch and listen to.

I am shocked and traumatized on some level of my being whether I am conscious or not of this happening.

Disbelief and denial are my comfort now.

In the safety of being detached, I send blessings on a wave of compassion to everyone who is suffering and to our mother Earth as she restores balance of her form.

I forgive myself and anyone else who has contributed to this problem past, present and future lives.

I choose to trust there is a divine purpose to this plan for the highest good of all living things.

I choose to release and send back in love all thoughts and feelings that are not mine.

Conscious and unconscious fears and anxieties are released now from every cell of my body.

I choose to remain calm and relaxed as I witness the unfolding of this event.

I am grateful for the life I currently have.

A participant who attended my EFT workshop commented on how they experience self loathing and has difficulty with the default phrase in the EFT set up,” I deeply and completely love and accept myself”.

Ten years ago when I first began to introduce EFT to my clients it became obvious that this statement hit home and some would get tearful saying this statement. At the core of who we are, we all desire to really deeply love and accept ourselves. I believe it is the intention of our souls to remember how beautiful we really are when we step outside our ego. If you are struggling with this standard phrase then repeating it 3 times can be painful.

I’d like to reframe that by saying that anyone attempting to use EFT/MTT, use self help methods or for those that decide to come in for counselling are taking steps towards healing and in actuality those choices and actions are indeed acts of self love which translates into the reality that you are really “LEARNING to love and accept yourself”.  Committing to searching for ways to release from toxic thoughts and emotions is an act of accepting and loving the self.

If you find yourself cringing at repeating the phrase “I deeply and completely love and accept myself”?
Try replacing with: Even though I have this___________________(identify specifically the emotion or body sensation)………….

“I want to learn to accept myself”
“I acknowledge and accept that I cannot accept myself in this moment”
“I acknowledge this feeling”
“I am open to the possibility of healing”
“I accept my feelings without judgement”
“I am an OK person anyways”
“I forgive myself”
“I am learning to be calm and confident”

Notice if any of these statements resonates more with your belief about the self and use as needed. Please let me know if any of these work better for you or you land on one that works more smoothly for you. Keep tapping……………Jody
