  10. A parent who shows an interest in their school work and activities.
  11. A parent who can negotiate reasonable rules with them.
  12. A parent who shows they understand the issues and stresses of being a teen.
  13. A parent who doesn’t take rebellion personally.
  14. A parent who shows warmth and love.
  15. A parent who encourages their growing independence.
  16. A parent who demonstrates being an active listener.
  17. A parent who respects their privacy.
  18. A parent who keeps advice to a minimum.
  19. A parent who stays calm when discussing difficult issues.
  20. A parent who doesn’t judge or compare you to others or themselves.
  21. A parent who will trust, support and advocate on their behalf.
  22. A parent who does not use guilt to manipulate.
  23. A parent who is willing to forgive.
  24. A parent who provides a safe home.
  25. A parent who will try to maintain a close relationship.
  26. A parent who will protect them when they feel threatened.
  27. A parent who will offer guidance when they are out of control.
